A continent that,
does everything big.
Australia is not a country so much as a continent of headline acts — the Sydney Opera House on its harbour, the Great Barrier Reef beneath the waves, the red monolith of Uluru, a coast road past collapsing limestone stacks. Distances are vast; the rewards, vaster.
Cities, reef,
and the ancient red.
Australia delivers an extraordinary range — the cosmopolitan harbour life of Sydney, the laneways and coffee culture of Melbourne, the underwater wonder of the Great Barrier Reef off tropical Queensland, the spiritual heart of the Red Centre at Uluru, and wildlife found nowhere else on earth. It is a long-haul journey that pays back generously, and one of the safest, most easygoing destinations anywhere for families and first-time long-haul travellers.
Travalive's Australia itineraries are designed around the country's scale — the right internal flights, the best season for the reef and the Centre, and bases chosen so the highlights are doors rather than day-long drives. We arrange the experiences that matter — an outer-reef pontoon day, an Uluru sunset dinner under the stars, a Great Ocean Road run timed for the light — and handle the visas and logistics end to end.
What you come here for.
The Opera House and Harbour Bridge, a harbour cruise and a climb, the surf at Bondi and the coastal walk to Coogee, and day trips to the Blue Mountains — Sydney is one of the world's great first impressions and the natural start to an Australian journey.
The largest living structure on the planet, off the Queensland coast. From Cairns and chic Port Douglas, snorkel or dive the outer reef, fly over Heart Reef, and pair it with the ancient Daintree rainforest where reef meets jungle.
Australia's culture capital — laneways, coffee, galleries, and sport — and the gateway to the Great Ocean Road, with the Twelve Apostles, koalas, and the Phillip Island penguin parade, plus the wineries of the Yarra Valley.
The vast ochre monolith of Uluru and the domes of Kata Tjuta rising from the desert — Australia's spiritual heart, sacred to its Aboriginal custodians, and unforgettable at sunrise, sunset, and under a desert sky thick with stars.
Kangaroos and koalas, wombats and platypus, penguins and the dazzling birdlife — on Kangaroo Island, Phillip Island, the rainforests, and in well-run sanctuaries. A highlight for families and nature lovers alike.
Beyond the headliners — the Whitsundays' white-silica beaches and sailing, the surf and glamour of the Gold Coast, the wilderness of Tasmania — Australia's coast and islands reward longer journeys.
The experiences that define the journey.
A Day on the Outer Great Barrier Reef
The reef rewards getting beyond the inshore fringe. We arrange a day to the outer reef from Port Douglas or Cairns — a stable pontoon or a small premium boat — for snorkelling and, for the certified, diving over coral gardens alive with turtles, reef sharks, and a thousand kinds of fish, with marine biologists on hand. A scenic flight over the iconic Heart Reef adds the aerial perspective that makes sense of the scale. We choose operators for reef health and small numbers, not just price, so the day does justice to one of the natural wonders of the world.
Uluru at Sunset, Dinner Under the Stars
Nothing prepares you for Uluru in the changing light. We position you for the sunset as the rock burns through its spectrum of reds, then move to a desert dinner under the open sky — bush-tucker-inspired cuisine, a didgeridoo in the dark, and a star-talk through the southern constellations far from any light. The next morning, a sunrise walk around the base with an Aboriginal or expert guide who reads the rock art and the Tjukurpa stories that make Uluru sacred. It is the most moving experience in Australia, and the reason to make the detour into the Centre.
The Great Ocean Road and Its Wildlife
One of the world's great drives, done at the right pace. We run the Great Ocean Road over a relaxed day or two rather than a rushed dash — the surf coast, the koalas of Kennett River, the fern gullies, and the Twelve Apostles timed for the golden hour when the limestone stacks glow and the coaches have gone. Add the evening penguin parade on Phillip Island, where hundreds of little penguins waddle ashore at dusk, and the Yarra Valley's wineries, and you have a Victoria that balances coast, wildlife, and the good life.
12 days in
Australia.
This twelve-day itinerary covers Australia's east-coast essentials — Sydney, Melbourne and the Great Ocean Road, and the Great Barrier Reef — with an optional detour to Uluru. Every element is adjustable: add the Red Centre, the Whitsundays, the Gold Coast, or Tasmania, and tune the internal flights to your pace. A starting point, not a fixed product.
Arrive in Sydney, met and transferred to your hotel. Time to recover from the long flight, with an easy first walk around Circular Quay and the Opera House as the harbour comes alive.
A harbour cruise beneath the Bridge and Opera House, the historic Rocks quarter, and the surf and coastal walk at Bondi. The essential Sydney, at a relaxed pace.
A day in the Blue Mountains — the Three Sisters at Echo Point, the eucalyptus haze, scenic railways and a bushwalk, and a wildlife park en route for kangaroos and koalas.
Fly north to tropical Queensland and transfer to Port Douglas. Afternoon at leisure on Four Mile Beach, settling into the languid pace of the reef coast.
A full day on the outer Great Barrier Reef — snorkelling or diving the coral gardens with marine guides, and an optional scenic flight over Heart Reef. One of the natural wonders of the world.
A day in the ancient Daintree — a river cruise for crocodiles, a boardwalk through the oldest rainforest on earth, and Cape Tribulation where the rainforest meets the reef. Then prepare to head south.
Fly south to Melbourne. Afternoon exploring the laneways, arcades, and coffee culture, with the rooftop bars and riverside Southbank in the evening. Australia's most European city.
The Great Ocean Road — the surf coast, the koalas of Kennett River, the fern gullies, and the Twelve Apostles at golden hour. One of the world's great drives, taken at the right pace.
A day toward Phillip Island — the Nobbies, the koala reserve, and at dusk the famous penguin parade as hundreds of little penguins come ashore. A magical wildlife finale.
A day in the Yarra Valley's wineries and a wildlife sanctuary, or a free day in Melbourne for markets, galleries, and shopping — a relaxed wind-down.
For those adding the Red Centre, fly to Uluru for the sunset, the desert dinner under the stars, and a sunrise base walk — Australia's spiritual heart — before the journey home.
Transfer to the airport for your flight home, or extend to the Gold Coast, the Whitsundays, Tasmania, or New Zealand next door. Travalive remains reachable throughout and builds any extension seamlessly.
